Switching master/slave roles

Is this functionality supported in the bluetooth APIs? I can't find
anything that would seem to accomplish this.

We have a button on our bluetooth tablets that is designed so that the
user can press it and it will try to (re)connect to the computer that it was
most recently connected to.

Once the tablet opens a RFCOMM channel to the computer, we want the two
to switch roles, and have the computer be the master and the tablet be a
slave (potentially one of several slaves).

Can I do this without having to manually close the channel and initiate
a new connection from the computer to the tablet.

...Eric...

PS: I see that this question was asked a couple of months ago, but I don't
see that there was ever an answer posted.
