This interesting little tidbit is in the named log...
---------------------------
Jun 25 11:57:46 smibes named[10554]: client 127.0.0.1#58791: request
has invalid signature: TSIG mydomain.com: tsig verify failure (BADKEY)
---------------------------
Also, just to be clear, I'm not actually using "mydomain.com", that's
just a placeholder in these emails for the domain I have registered...
Thanks,
_ michael

Hello all,
I've nearly got dnsextd running successfully, but get some odd
errors that prevent my services from being registered. I'm wondering
if anyone has seen these and know what they mean.

Request 10.0.1.200: Reply contains non-zero rcode
Message from 10.0.1.200 not a successful update.
----------------------------------
The last two messages are the ones I'm concerned about. "Reply
contains non-zero rcode" and "not a successful update".
Here's the setup I have. I have registered a domain (in this
example, "mydomain.com") and have been able to successfully point
external dns servers to my local server (running 10.5.3). Now, I'm
running a named instance on my server that has a subdomain set up
("mbishop.bonjour.mydomain.com."). I've also started dnsextd
successfully. The .local address of the server is "smibes.local."
I've gone through the instructions on the dns-sd website both for
setting up named and for setting up dnsextd. There were also
additional instructions in /etc/dnsextd.conf.
the entry for mbishop.bonjour.mydomain.com. allows updates via
"any;" in the configuration file.
Now, I have another machine on my local network that is trying to
connect to it and register its services in the
"mbishop.bonjour.mydomain.com." domain. It uses the Bonjour control
panel to browse and register in the subdomain. The address of this
machine is 10.0.1.200.
I'm pretty sure everything is how the docs say. I'm just getting
these weird "Reply contains non-zero rcode" errors and being fairly
new to DNS, don't know how to interpret them.
Does anyone have any idea what those mean? I can supply any
additional info that you need.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.
