This is way off topic for this list, but...

You're generating your own EPS? The EPS format is well documented. Do you have the red book? If you can generate a well formed EPS file with a grayscale image, you're not that far. You may have some issues converting the TIFF (which I assume is in RGB mode?) to CMYK.
