I noticed that FSRenameUnicode sets errno to ENOENT even though it succeeds. I am not familiar enough with Unix custom to know whether this should be considered a bug. Is it considered OK for a function to change errno without being documented as changing errno?

From a Unix perspective, I don't know; maybe the documentation should be updated (to say that Carbon file manager functions "may" change errno).

In practice, a good conservative approach is to assume that almost any API *could* be layered on top of errno-changing calls.
