The method I used to use to get a bold variant of an
ATSFontRef/FMFont/ATSUFontID was to call ATSUFontIDtoFOND on the
font then call ATSUFONDtoFontID with the correct style. This is
obviously a bad idea. Especially since quite a few fonts don't have
families. Poor fonts.
Is there a "blessed" way to get the bold variant of a font given an
ATSFontRef that is much less "evil"? I'm probably just going "crazy"
by missing the completely "obvious" function call.
And I mean the actual bold variant. Like turning Lucida Grande into
Lucida Grande Bold. None of that synthesized junk. And no, I can't
just append the word "Bold" to the end of the name of the font and
hope for the best.
