Re: Algorithm for "preferred application" changed in Tiger?

On 5/31/05 5:40 PM, Chris Espinosa didst favor us with:

Some? SOME? In the real world wouldn't "most" be far more accurate? I don't
think *any* application I use supports UTIs. Not one.

Oh good, another reason to be glad I haven't upgraded to Tiger. Why didn't
the Launch Services team look into this *before* Tiger was released? Sorry,
but this is just another example of one or more people at Apple not thinking
about how real people use their computers. They seem oblivious to the fact
that most people will continue using existing applications and expect
consistent behaviors, instead thinking that the only applications anyone
will want to use will be the shiny new applications installed with the
latest version of Mac OS X. As the author of a file utility, I hear feedback
from users about various versions of the OS, and they definitely have some
issues with Tiger. I'm not really complaining, though, because those people
are asking me to deliver features to compensate. :-)
