Re: Running application on Vanilla Machine!!!

The problem seems to be in OS installation (core foundation
libraries) and not in my application. Is the installation of Panther enough
to run application that use CoreFoundation files or do we need to install
something else.
    Can anyone please help me?

Using a debugger to verify that your input values are correct is probably a more useful first step in debugging crashes like this than worrying about misconfigured system software.

Chris

I think a closer reading of the stack trace, possibly coupled with assertions and careful logging, would be more effective in this situation. To truly test a vanilla configuration, it makes a lot of sense not to install the developer tools, and I'm pretty sure that means that the computer has no debugger.

I do agree that one should always be more suspicious of one's own code than the OS's. When the only variable in the experiment is the platform, and all others are kept equal, it seems natural to examine the platform more closely. However, I think this is often just a question of a different configuration highlighting subtle errors, which is actually useful if it happens during testing, and not erroneous.
