I have no inside information - but I consider it to be quite possible
that we actually did not even have the plan to allow trade-ins until
recently. It's entirely possible that Developer Relations didn't even
know what exact type of Intel Mac would be introduced until recently
- the hardware groups keep that information quite compartmentalized.
Then again, maybe Developer Relations had this plan 9 months ago. I
don't know - but neither do you. Don't assume. :)
