Life is full of gambles. Some times you win. Sometimes they win. I'm happy for all the DTK owners who received this happy surprise. It's really none of your business what Apple decides to do for the people who entered into that arrangement with them. The fact is, some of them really ended up with a raw deal. If you bought the DTK in late December, you would be feeling pretty stupid when 2 weeks later the production machines started shipping. You can be sure there was something in this decision for Apple. It wasn't done as part of some big "piss off Larry" conspiracy. Probably it was the most convenient way to motivate a quick return of nearly useless prototype hardware that is still not due to be returned for a year. If some "rich developers" get freebie iMacs out of this, so be it. It's not like it's the only benefit accorded to rich developers. Those guys get all the breaks! While we're whining, maybe I should complain that nobody told me in advance that Apple's stock would be skyrocketing on the day of the keynote. Typical Apple - rewarding the rich investors who can afford to speculate, while leaving the little guys out in the cold. Daniel |
