Re: How do I get a notification each time a EditText control contents changes?

I did this as well. I think I also installed a handler to handle the case of the escape key being hit. It was odd that the little x itself seemed to have no default behaviour even though the expected behaviour of clicking the little x seems to be the same across applications.

For catching the little (x), it turns out that this just generates it's own
event {kEventClassSearchField, kEventSearchFieldCancelClicked}, and does not
change the text in any way. So I just add a handler for this event on the
control, and empty the field on the event and notify my clients.
