This presumes that Apple really wants AppleEvents, and resources
for that matter, to be the heart of the system, the plumbing upon
which all things rest.
in "Application Environments" which lists:
Carbon, Cocoa, Java, AppleScript, WebObjects, BSD and X11.
It's real John. There are substantial communities of graphic
designers, printed media publishers, iTunes users, QuickTime users,
Automator users, etc., who use AppleScript. Scan thru the AppleScript
dictionary of System Events in 10.4 just for starters to see where
things are headed. By way of analogy, I'll say that in the right
hands, AppleEvent descriptors are to typed data as XML is to strings.
