Last year Apple had $10,110 million in cash and short term investments last
fiscal year. You'd think they could find the money somewhere to hire a few
dozen people.

We got used to this state of affairs back when Apple was rushing to get Mac OS X out and now is just the status quo. As long as they think we'll deal with the status quo (and they're right), why spend money to change it? It doesn't cost Apple a dime for you or me to grumble.
