A simple routine that converts your MacRoman strings to UTF-8 (anything 0-127 is converted straight across, anything above that would use a small 127-entry table that has the UTF-8 sequences for the MacRoman characters). Then create a CFString from that UTF-8 string, and voila!

I stand corrected :-)

(But still in need of a solution to replicate the QuickDraw's drawstring
behavior with anti-aliased text).
