Color me confused then. You were asking how to get NSWorkspace notifications but you said you couldn't use NSWorkspace, and posted to the carbon list :-)


If you can't use Carbon, you probably can't use NSWorkspace either since that is AppKit (which is as high-level in the framework "stack" as Carbon.)

What specific notification do you need, and what are the requirements of the executable you are building?

It's a Carbon app running (someone else's) Cocoa plugins. I can't require the plugin developers to rewrite their code to work around the unavailability of NSWorkspace.
