Marketing and those who are exposed to it don't care. Why do you
think that 64bit is a big feature of the 10.5 Finder? Because it's
useful or because it's a buzzword?
Given the coverflow stuff and whatever that feature is that lets
you look into files with lots of pretty animation it may provide
better performance.
Right. I forgot about Coverflow. Sure, that looks like it would the
2GB RAM in my computer for breakfast.
We have a lot of customers asking about a 64bit version without
even understanding what the benefits and what the drawbacks of a
64bit application are. They just want it because it's a buzzword.
All they see is that in the WWDC keynote demo, the 64bit app was a
lot faster than the 32bit app, and that's what they now expect
from our apps.
Then you'd better roll up your sleeves. ;-)
That's what they said after WWDC 05 too. OS X, now with 30% more
transitions*!
