Turns out that doesn't seem to work. see i need to know if findStr ("substring") appears anywhere inside withinStr ("string to search"), and i need the compare to use:


The approach suggested to me is to

        CFStringNormalize(mutableCopy, kCFStringNormalizationFormD);

and then remove kCFCharacterSetNonBase. You can then do a search as usual. (This is what I'm using in Opal.) --
