Carbon Event text Input

Hi All

Using kEventClassTextInput kEventTextInputUnicodeForKeyEvent I've installed a handler to deal with text input on a nib window. It works fine as input to my code, but the application menus are no longer accessible, i.e. Cmd-keys no longer call their menu equivalents.

Should I be checking for the Command modifier key down in my handler? Any help would be appreciated.
