SketchUp custom colors appears to have broken Carbon color functions. Workaround?

This is a weird one...

A screen capture can be found at:

http://ericgorr.net/cocoadev/ColorProcedure.m4v.zip

The full source for the simple JustCocoa app can be found at:

http://ericgorr.net/cocoadev/JustCocoa.zip

The full source for a JustPP app can be found at:

http://ericgorr.net/cocoadev/JustPP.zip

The crash logs from both of these apps crashing can be found at:

http://ericgorr.net/cocoadev/ColorCrashLogs.zip

Basically, to reproduce this problem,

1. Launch SketchUp (v 7.1)
2. Add a SketchUp custom color to the favorites in the OS Color Picker (like a wood color)
3. Try running the JustPP or JustCocoa app and clicking on the GetColor button

The app will crash.

If you run SketchUp again and remove the custtom color from the favorites section and then click on the GetColor button again, it will work just fine.

The most interesting crash log actually is the one from the JustPP application which contains:

*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidUnarchiveOperationException', reason: '*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver decodeObjectForKey:]: cannot decode object of class (SketchUpColor)'
*** Call stack at first throw:

As near as I can figure, what is happening is that SketchUp has added some custom data into the color that only it knows how to handle or, perhaps, there is some strange bug in the OS which is not dealing with this kind of situation correctly.

I have filed a bug report - rdar://7364603
