I have a custom window that I want to be able to remove the close box from on the fly, and put it back on. When I start out with a window that has the close box, and I call ChangeWindowAttributes (inWindow, 0, kWindowCloseBoxAttribute); it immediately changes the window from my custom shape into a standard document window (without a close box, as desired). Is there a way to keep the custom shape and turn the attribute on and off? Is this a bug I should file?

That sounds like a bug. On CarbonLib (what version) or X? I think we've fixed some problems like that recently on X (the fixes will in the next major release), but there might still be some remaining on either platform. Probably best to write a bug so we can verify.
