Obj-C is one of the LEAST cross-plat languages out there.

Wrong. Objective-C is fully supported by gcc and therefore runs on all platforms gcc runs on, which is most of the platforms in the world.

Don't you need a runtime for each platform? I was under the impression that run-times through GNUStep only existed for Linux and Win32. Also, I'
m under the impression that the GCC version isn't close to complete yet, and is incompatible with what is currently shipping on the Mac (not including the Cocoa GUI stuff that I don't plan on using).

Actually, GNUStep is quite compatible with Cocoa, and if, as you say, you aren't planning on doing a Cocoa GUI, then you will be pleasantly surprised that the GNUStep Foundation is complete.
