Just so you'll know, the name of this book *should* be "Mac OS X, Advanced
Development Techniques for Cocoa Development."

An advanced Mac OS X developer should know their way around Cocoa. I don't think you can really be an advanced Mac OS X developer knowing just Carbon, especially given that Cocoa gives you the best bang-for-the-buck by far when it comes to new Mac OS X development.

Similarly, I think you need to have some knowledge of Carbon, too, and be comfortable working with Carbon APIs since there are still technologies available in Carbon that aren't part of Cocoa.

(Take alias records, for example. I've written a simple Open Source BDAlias wrapper class, anyone storing persistent references to user files in Cocoa applications should use it.)
