newbie : no background painting at all (for OpenGL)

hi

(i apologize for the cross-post but i guess this is really relevant to
both carbon and opengl forums)

I'm developing a Mach-O Carbon application (i'm quite new to mac/carbon
programming btw) that uses OpenGL a lot.

I'm embedding an OpenGL view in a custom control. It works fine.

However, since I plan to have some windows use ONLY openGL (ie : be
totally covered with opengl "controls"), i'd like to avoid the lengthy background
painting : is it possible to write a custom window event handler to NOT perform
any background drawing ?
OpenGL buffer "swapping" is fast and i could have fast window resizes if i could
bypass this extra step (i forgot to mention i am using live resizing)

I tried using a window in a nib file and set the "Theme Brush" setting
or use SetThemeWindowBackground( ) but it seems there is no "do not paint
background" setting.

Can someone tell me if and how i could do this ?

Thank you very much
