Re: resource question

On May 30, 2003 Lawrence Harris favored us severely:

The only thing I am not sure about is that in my new bundle app
folder,

Okay, could you spare us the "freaky" thing?

done!

ResEdit hasn't been updated in years and doesn't know about data fork based
resource files.
yeah, that is too bad

What don't you want there anymore, the resource or the data fork resource
file?

Larry
The resource itself is what I don't want. The only resource *file* I open is my Preferences file. Which file that is I am not sure--I use FindFolder(kOnSystemDisk, kPreferencesFolderType, kDon'tCreateFolder, &myRef, &myID). Would that give me the preferences file in the System Folder's Preferences Folder, or my user's preferences folder? Does OS9 ignore the Library/Preferences folder that OS X uses when you make a call like that?

But in any case, it's not in either of those files. I also call CurResFile(). Now, would that use the resource fork of my *actual* OS9 executable file (which it does have a resource fork), or would it use the resource file in the Resources Folder of my application's serious bundle? They both exist, but I can't tell what's in the one which presumably has resources in the data fork. Is there any third-party app which lets you change up resources in a data fork? I've never used Resourcerer, is that good?

Thanks for any replies.
Bob
