Movable Modal dialog background oddity on Panther

If I use SetThemeWindowBackground(kThemeBrushMovableModalBackground) on a movable modal class window (non compositing) then all the controls in it have a slight mismatch in the way the striped lines of the background line up.

It's really faint, but I can see this in StandardAlert and in the Get Info window of a song in iTunes 4.1. If you look carefully around the buttons or the tab control you'll see what appears to be a lighter variation of the striped background which does not match the window's strips.

If I take out the call to SetThemeWindowBackground then I get a solid gray background for my movable modal windows.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing now....
