Oh, it's more than a suggestion. I remember all the way back in System 7, I had bizarre, hard-to-reproduce problems that I eventually tracked down to "you must SetPort to the destination port before CopyBits". The various problems you'd experience would change between OS releases, but it definitely has mattered and caused real bugs.
