Thanks! That was exactly the information I was looking for.
I gather that the metadata file is not simply a stored Search-Kit index, by the fact that you say I should wait for an API instead of trying to use them as they are now?

cd /Volumes/Documents/
ls -la

Inside this folder the indexes are stored. Hope this is what you wanted. I would however wait for an API instead of trying to use the indexes manually, but at the very least it helps to get an idea of how the indexes are stored and managed.
