I have a CD that OS 9.2.2 thinks is named:

Does anybody know the reason for the difference?

Window's Joiliet format CD? Mac OS 9.x doesn't understand Joiliet natively, and thus uses the ISO9660 names (which cannot have spaces) while Mac OS X does and it uses the long file names that Windows wrote. If this is the case then there are almost certainly more differences than just the volume name.

Reality is what, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved for those who try.
