iirc, turning off rendezvous in directory access doesn't turn off
rendezvous -- all it does it does is turn off rendezvous discovery
for... directories. just like turning off appletalk in dir svcs does
not turn off appletalk in system prefs --> network.
i'm pretty sure. to turn off rendezvous you'd have to get rid of the
binaries -- in the very least, remove the mDNSResponder in
/System/Library/StartupItems. Or remove usr/sbin/mDNSResponder.
i think, anyway.
