We solved our printer issues by putting a relatively inexpensive network
laserwriter in each pod (group) of classrooms - then everyone can "see" and
print to those printers -- I name them by rooms (EG room 13 laserprinter) so
the teachers can choose their printer and know exactly where there stuff is
going.  We also have 2 printers in the computer lab and one in the teachers'
workroom.  The lab and workroom printers are HP 4100n (there's a more recent
version) - the classroom printers are HP1300n -- so far everything has
worked well.
