If I understand you correctly, you might want to investigate the 'ifconfig' command (man ifconfig).

I hate to point out the blindingly obvious, but if you change the IP address of a computer to which you have a remote connection, you're instantly cut off. Moreover, if you don't do it CORRECTLY, you'll find yourself hiking to that unit's console to fix it. Have your walking shoes ready!

Does anyone know if I can change the IP on a 10.2.8 client via SSH? I've googled and found only info on changeip in the server version. TIA.
