Re: Read-only issue in a shared folder

I have a Principal and her assistant who are members of an Open Directory group with admin privileges.  They both utilize a shared folder that only they can access.  The folder grants “read and write” privileges to their group.  When my principal creates a new document and saves it to the folder, her assistant gets a read-only status when she opens the document to edit it.

While this is a nice protective measure, it defeats the purpose of the shared folder with “read and write” privileges.  Is there a fix to this?

I have to go onto the server as the root user and apply the read & write privilege to the folder each time she creates a document.

Make sure the sharepoint's "Inherit Permissions" box is checked in the Sharing area of Workgroup Manager.
Any file created after that point will have the same permissions as the folder it is written to.
