Network Logins and Kerberos Prompt

I just had a OS X fail to start up on a machine earlier this week. The end result was that I needed to wipe the machine and re-install the OS X. It is a student machine used with network logins. All seemed to be well until I actually had some students try to log into the machine. It accepts the username and password, but then a Kerberos login screen appears stating that it needs a username and password. If the students try entering their name and password again, the receive the message "Client not found in Kerberos Database" . They can also click cancel and it drops them to their desktop and everything works like it did before. However, the extra prompt is annoying and confusing for the students. Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Thanks
