Drop Box and Microsoft Office

Server: 10.3.9
client: 10.4.2
Office version 2004 with all updates
Drop box has read/write for owner, write for group and none for everyone.

Students use home folders that are stored on the server. For our business class, they also have a folder automounted on their desktop that I named Business Computer for use as the drop box.
When the student tries to save a ms word/excel document to the automounted folder, they get a message that says,

"You do not have permission to see the results of this operation. Do you want to continue?" (which is expected behavior) They click on Ok and then another message comes up that says, "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." They click ok.

When the teacher with the read/write privileges logs in, the folder automounts on the desktop and the documents that were saved there by the students are there and will open but there is no data and receive the error, "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the microsoft framework library."

I have tried changing privileges on the office folder and various other things to no avail. Anyone have a fix or something I could use for the old "hand in folder"
Thank You,
R
