Hi, We are rolling out PHD enabled ibooks for many of our teachers and was looking for some tips to improve performance outside of our network. For the most part they work fine on our own wireless network and we have folks using other wireless hotspots and home wireless successfully. The PHD concept is AWESOME. Now we just want to make it a good user experience off-site as well. 1. We want to enable security on the ibooks after sleep or screen saver, but they seem to pause for a long time (30+ seconds) when off our network. 2. Login off network can also be slow (minutes). 3. To allow PHD syncing (background or otherwise) to work, must users login when coming back "on network"? I have not seen notes on that requirement. I. E., can they just choose Sync Now from the menu extra after coming back on network without logging in? 4. Are there Directory Access settings that would improve performance of the above? In the past DHCP provided LDAPv3 were problematic and OD servers were hard coded. Does PHD accounts work better using only DHCP set LDAPv3? What is the authentication sequence for PHD accounts? All of the areas that seem to cause the delay look to be authentication related and seem to be problems we did not see with just plain mobile user accounts that we used last year. Any tips out there to make this work more effectively? John, Thanks for all the other good info in the T&T's! Tim
