Before I get onto the problem I'll give some background. We're setting up as small test network to try things out before we go live with everything. The goal I am trying to accomplish is central user management for things like the dock, managed printers, etc.. , but without using network based home folders. This currently works on our 10.3 setup, but I can't get it to work in our test 10.4 setup. The problem I am getting is that when a mobile users logs into a workstation they are getting the "99" home folder along with a "99" folder create at the volume root. Logging into the station as another user loads the pervious "99" folder which is already said to be owned by the original login. Any ideas what's going on here? I'm pretty sure I did everything right. > I started by installing server as a standalone server. > I ran the combo updater from a cd. > I configured DNS on the machine. > changed the machines hostname and en0's DNS information using the command line tools. > tested DNS forward and reverse lookups -- everything worked okay. > Promoted the machine to Open Directory Master which went okay. > Created some users and turned them on as mobile users.. No Home Folder was pointed too during creation because I want these to only be local. And the rest is history. After reading through the list here I found mention of making sure the Info tab for each account in WGM is filled out. Well this information was being filled out by WGM so the only one which needed actual editing was the Directory Administrator whose last name was set to "99". Changing the FN and LN so Directory and Administrator respectively did not fix the problem though as new logins encountered the same problem. So before I pull my hair out does anyone have any idea what could be going on here? Thanks, Jay |
