Hi all,
I've googled for a while, but found nothing, so thought someone here might
know.
Is there any double-clickable utility for the user to change their
password?
A thread back in April noted problems with the keychain password being
separate. This isn't a concern in this case, as no network storage is on
offer, and the accounts are cleansed on log-off. (It's more like an
authenticated internet-café setup...)
The process of going to System Preferences -> Accounts etc, is a little
obscure for someone not used to a Mac. (It's 95% windows in our student
labs, and ctrl-alt-del to change the password is second nature to the
students)
At the moment, I'm thinking of just creating an alias to
/System/Library/PreferencePanes/Accounts.prefPane which will just launch the
accounts preference pane.
That however has too many bits of pieces in it such as picture/login items
etc. I'm looking for something stupid-simple.
I'm basically looking for something that will pop open a window, autofill
the username, ask the user for the old password, and ask for the new
password twice. (and no hint)
The accounts are on Active Directory if that makes a difference.
Could this be done with AppleScript? Any pointers?
A wrapper around dscl?
Slán,
Tim
