importing into Workgroup Manager the ID assignment seems very
random, but worse yet the numbers are getting quite large. The
last one created was 9-digits long!
Does anyone know if this will someday present a problem? Now would
be the time to delete and recreate, before the users get on,
although it would mean repeating hours of work.
Not exactly an answer to your question, but we use the student's ID
number as their UID and it gets imported into WGM just fine. In our
district, our ID numbers are the student's grad year + 4digits, so we
get the added benefit of being able to look at that number and know
what grade the student is in. Restricting the search by UID makes it
easy to deal with the kids in a particular grade, whether assigning
them to workgroups or deleting the accounts after they graduate.
