Re: Ghost records in computer list, and broken icons

We have had the problem in the past and corrected it by physically removing the offending computer by turning on the Inspector and choosing the computer from the pop-up menu. Worked fine.

Hi everyone

I recently re-installed Panther Server on a dual 1.8ghz G5. I am managing about 160 OS9 iMacs (with Mac Manager) and 16 new Tiger eMacs (Workgroup Manager) in one of my schools.
All machines are fully patched.

My issues are the following:

When I try to add some of the eMacs to a Computer List in Workgroup Manager I get the error
"A computer with the description ComputerName already belongs to this or another list"
I seem to remember this was an issue a while back but am unable to find the solution in previous list emails. Is there a way to clear out a cache somewhere on the server? I looked in the inspector but only found records for the ones that are working properly.

Also my Managed Dock prefs aren't working for the computer list I created, when I log in as a user all I get is a bunch of question marks on the dock - is it looking for the apps on the computer I created them on? It comes up with an AFP error eventually. How do I get the eMacs to look locally for the apps?

Thanks for any tips.

Dylan
