Re: NetInstall Problem and Question

You should try using Mike Bombich's NetRestore method  of Netboot/Netinstall/NetRestore.  You can get the software at bombich.com.

I have a classroom full of iMac G5 (Tiger) computers being served by a G4 Xserve (Tiger Server).  I wanted to use the Netboot install image method of setting them up.  I used the System Image Utility on the server to create an image of an already-set-up-the-way-I-wanted-it iMac in firewire target disk mode.  When I boot the other iMacs, they get to the apple with spinning swirly and stop.

Some tcpdump analysis seems to  show that it got the 'booter', kernel and kernel extensions file, but stops there.  Is it bad to use the G4 to make images for a G5?  I figured it didn't matter since it's just grabbing everything off of the hard disk.
