Outlook Express and 10.4.2 Server

Hello.

So I upgraded my OSX Servers from 10.3.5 through to 10.3.9 and then "upgraded" them to 10.4.2.

Now, my OS9 Mac Manager clients can't use Outlook Express 5.0.6 or Entourage 2001 to get new mail. Any time they go to check mail, they get a -5000 permissions error. What's weird is that they can see all their current mail, as well as *send* new messages.....

These client machines *must* stay at OS9, due to monetary restrictions (ie. we can't afford to upgrade our 50+ machines to OSX client).

I ran into this kind of error with our Library Pro 3.0 Silver program....it wanted to delete a file and immediately re-create it, and some permissions stuff regarding AFP and OS9 changed between 10.3.5 and 10.3.9 (and into 10.4). The solution there was to upgrade the program to 3.1 which didn't do anything about those files.

I can look at the AFP access log and OE when you initiate a check mail will create a file in the OE Temp folder....then try to open it.

Anyone have any solutions? I've got lots of schools that are on this same config....and until I get it fixed, they have no Email!!!!

Thanks!
Mike Ma.
