Hi You could simply use the following command /sbin/shutdown via crontab. Use man shutdown in terminal to see its many uses. I use it in an Applesript as I also wanted to script the Finder. AppleScript is unable to script the Loginwindow app. If you are interested in the AppleScript, I'll make it available.
