The maintenance scripts will run as long as the computer is powered and
fully awake. Nothing will run while the computer is in a deep sleep. I
usually only have the display sleep in my labs; I disable deep sleep and
allowing the hard disk to sleep in the Energy Saver control panel. I also
schedule the Mac's in the lab to wake up/power on at 2AM in case someone has
shut one down.
I believe there is a free application called Anacron that checks to see if
scheduled maintenance has run when it should when you power up the
workstation or login. If it hasn't, it runs the appropriate missed script.
