Extend OpenDirectory

Does anyone know if there is any decent documentation on how to add or extend the schema in Open Directory?

We are using OD on a G5 Xserve and are hosting home directories for several schools. We would like to be able to break up the directory by schools if possible, instead of having all users in one long list. Is anyone doing this? Mulitple contexts?

I have looked at the pages created by John Grigutis at Indian Univ., but this does not seem to be doing what we are trying to accomplish.
