So if I use a mobile account, but remove the /Uses share, then the
user will get a local home directory, be managed, and get cached
credentials to work off-line. Sounds great.
Now, how can I do this so that the person (a laptop user) can be
connected to the network, still use a local home directory, but get
the benefits of an auto-mounted home for background
synchronization? Is this even possible?
That's exactly what the "Portable homes" of Tiger does. It syncs the
local mobile account home to the network home for that user.
