I've had instances, me included, where preferences for photoshop
become extremely corrupted - which could be why that one user is not
able to access all of the photoshop features. If this is the case,
delete:
user'shomefolder/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Photoshop.plist
and also, in the folder user'shomefolder/Library/Preferences/ delete
the 'Adobe Photoshop' folders it creates (the exact title depends on
the version, in my case I'll delete 'Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings',
'Adobe Photoshop CS2 Paths'), and the 'Adobe' Folder (inside should
have 'plugins' and 'workflow' -- these are all filter settings).
There is no harm in doing this, the next time the user opens up
photoshop, it'll just look like a fresh install -- none of his window
positioning and color choices will be remembered, he'll have to take
ten seconds to reset his preferred working environment. If he
complains, tell him it's something designers have to get used too...
which is more true that you IT guys can imagine.
As for the lack of mounting, I'm in the dark on that one:)

Does this reply make any sense? I might have to see this for myself. The
second part of her message has to do with home directories not
mounting off
of the Windows server, which I KNOW I'll have to investigate myself....

I'm going to pass this on to the teacher. Thanks Brady!

I wouldn't think you could restrict filter access to only a few
options -- do you notice if it's the base filters that work, and
extensions do not, or vice versa? Are you sure he isn't talking about
access to the filters folder in the Adobe folder?

One of my classes that I manage is "Computer Art" and all of the
students
use Photoshop CS. I had everything configured to allow access, or
thought I
did - I was just told that ONE of the students isn't getting full
access to
the set of filters. Where can I begin to check settings?
