Font cache corruption in Tiger clients

Hello,

Ever since we upgraded our managed clients (and associated server) to Tiger
(10.4.2) we've had a problem with the corruption of font caches.
There are couple of symptoms:
- The Office 2004 apps will only display a subset of the fonts we have
installed in the font menu
- Word 2004 will complain on launch that "Futura" is corrupted.
- Selecting a font in any application will actually select a different font
- Revealing a font in the Finder in FontBook will point to a different font
(for example selecting Arial will reveal the Courier font file)
- Wrong font in the menu bar
- Squares instead on letters in the login window or in a document

All these problems seem to get fixed by rebooting the client in safe boot
and rebooting again normally.
This has happened to about half of our users and a third of the client
machines. It has happened to users that always use the same client machine
and never log in elsewhere, and others who never seem to log in to the same
machine twice.

Needless to say we never had this problem with Panther.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Thanks,
