Multiple Printers

We have seen this same issue with managed 10.3.9 clients and WGM on a
10.4.2 server. The repeating printers are HP 4250 printers - which are
our district standard. We do see the issue with our Sharp copiers and our
HP 4650 color printers.

The user's view of the multiplying printers can be controlled using
managed printers in WGM - if the HP 4250 printers are added to management
using the generic driver rather than the HP driver.

We reported the issue to Apple several weeks ago and received a case
number. We continue to seek a solution, and check back with them
periodically.

If you are using managed client, you will also find that user logins will
become very slow - correlating with the number of accumulating printer
ppds in the ETC/CUPS/PPD folder. In order to maintain a reasonable login,
we are using ARD to periodically blast out a clean CUPS/PPD folder, and
clean printer.conf file, and a clean printer.conf.0 file.

Good luck!
