Thread-topic: New school using VOIP on the network
User-agent: Microsoft-Entourage/11.2.1.051004
We use the Cisco system here, 7 buildings so far, will be 10 soon. I run
the system...it is rather painless, however our installers do not EVER run
amuck in our closets without us. We create a patch list ahead of time of
where phones will be plugged in at, and which phones will be on a dedicated
jack if available, and which will share a data port with a computer (the
computer is then daisy chained to the phone since they all have mini
switches in them).
As far as networking goes, that is the least of the work, mostly the
dial-plan, organization, importing phone records, and users into the
voicemail system etc etc...that is the pain, hence the consultant being
hired to do it 8-)...
