I'm experiencing a problem with copying files from the Finder in OS
10.4.3 to drop box-type folders on a Windows 2003 server. When you
try to copy, you get an error: "The operation cannot be completed
because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
After you click OK, you discover that the file is actually created on
the destination, but it's 0 bytes. If you copy using 'cp' in
Terminal, or copy from a Windows XP Pro client, everything works as
expected.
The permissions on the folder give the user all 4 "write"
capabilities that the advanced permissions configuration offers, but
nothing else.
The other thing that's strange is that the Finder has no trouble
creating .DS_Store files in the drop box folders, complete with data
(i.e. greater than 0 bytes).
So it seems pretty clear that the Finder is attempting to do
additional operations other than copying the raw data, and then
giving up when it can't do them. Any ideas on a resolution? Changing
permissions on the server is going to be the last alternative.
Thanks,
Matt
