Re: Tiger Server and group share permissions amnesia

every now and then - for no logical reason at all (that I can see), the two folders in within this share return a message to the client that they do not have permissions to access it. Logging out and back in does not help. When I check the permissions on the server itself, all is fine. Permissions remain set for user/groups/ everyone etc... To remedy this, I literally have to make a non permanent change to one item (usually I just click on the 'Everyone tab but change no setting) and then 'Save' and 'Refresh'. When the client logs back in, permissions are back to 'normal' again despite not changing a thing. Any ideas why Tiger Server and the clients seem to 'disagree' every now and then despite the proper settings?

I'd be interested to see whether in such situations the client still has access to the folders via the Terminal or Open/Save dialogs ?

I've had a fair few instances where the Finder would simply have it wrong, and trashing the local mcx cache then logging out and back in would often fix it.
